Introduction to the Scenic Area

Xuefeng Mountain Scenic Area is located within Xuefeng Mountain National Forest Park in Hongjiang City, Hunan Province. It is situated in the main peak area of the Xuefeng Mountain Range, covering a total area of 3,477 hectares, with the highest altitude reaching 1,934 meters. The forest coverage rate is 98.5%, and the content of negative oxygen ions is as high as 20,000 per cubic centimeter (80,000 in some areas). The average temperature in summer is 22℃. It is known as a "summer resort" and a "natural oxygen bar". The scenic area is rich in flora and fauna. It is home to 185 species of wild vertebrates, including first-class protected animals such as the white-necked long-tailed child, clouded leopard and golden eagle, as well as 22 second-class key protected animals such as the tiger frog and snake eagle. There are over 700 species of woody plants belonging to more than 90 families. Among them, there are 18 species of wild plants under national key protection, such as Ginkgo and Taxus chinensis var. mairei. There are also over 50 kinds of precious medicinal materials, including Gastrodia elata and Polygonatum odoratum. It is hailed as "a magical land free from pollution" and "a paradise for species variation".

The scenic area is rich in tourism resources and has developed numerous scenic spots such as Pingshantang Health and Wellness Center, Meiren Valley, Yingxiong Mountain, Tianchi Lake, Underground Great Wall, Yaochi Lake, and the Anti-Japanese War Site of Zhimujie. Integrating forest health care, study Tours, parent-child interaction and hiking exploration, it is equipped with complete tourism facilities and public services, and can accommodate accommodation and meals for 500 to 1,000 people at one time. It has been successively awarded as a Forest Health and wellness Base in Hunan Province, an environmental education base in Hunan Province, and one of the "Top Ten Winter Climate Tourism Destinations" in Hunan Province. The scenic area enjoys convenient transportation. National Highway 320 runs through it. It has always been known as "Snow-capped peaks and Natural barriers, the Gateway to the Southwest". It is only 22 kilometers away from the Jiangkou exit of the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, 39 kilometers from Anjiang East Railway Station, 91 kilometers from Huaihua South Railway Station and 95 kilometers from Zhijiang Airport.
