02 Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Xuefeng Mountain Forest Park

Tourists can drive off the G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway at Jiangkou Tollgate and then travel 24 kilometers along National Road 320 to reach the entrance of Xuefeng Mountain Forest Park. They can stop at the park entrance inscribed by Academician Yuan Longping to take photos and then scan the code to register and purchase tickets to enter the park. After entering the park, they can drive 4.5 kilometers to Pingshantang Scenic Area and check into the Forest Health and Wellness Center Hotel. (Along the way, you can stop at the scenic spots of Shanhai Muxin and Kuaiji Guanyun for sightseeing.)

Ticket prices: 30 yuan per person for tourists within Huaihua City and 60 yuan per person for tourists outside Huaihua City. Elderly people, children and others will have their tickets reduced or waived according to relevant regulations.

Xuefeng Mountain Forest Park: Located in the main peak area of the Xuefeng Mountain Range, Xuefeng Mountain National Forest Park in Hunan Province is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a forest health and wellness base in Hunan Province, an environmental education base in Hunan Province, and one of the "Top Ten Winter Climate Tourism Destinations" in Hunan Province. The forest coverage rate of the scenic area reaches 95.8%, with a negative oxygen ion content of up to 20,000 per cubic centimeter. The average temperature in summer is 24℃. It is known as a "summer resort" and a "natural oxygen bar". Xuefeng Mountain is a heroic mountain and the main battlefield of the last battle of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression - the Xiangxi Campaign (Xuefeng Mountain Campaign). Xuefeng Mountain is a "paradise of species variation", and hybrid rice has spread to the world from here.

After checking in, tourists can take a stroll around the lake, play on the lawn, or sit quietly and go fishing. Forest Cuisine: Xuefeng Mountain is rich in ecological and organic mountain delicacies such as Gastrodia elata, Polygonatum odoratum, kiwi fruit, high-altitude cloud mist tea, bamboo shoots, pine mushrooms, and konjac. Together with local specialties like Xuefeng black-bone chicken and farm-style wood-fired cured meat, they have given rise to the unique forest cuisine of Xuefeng Mountain. The Underground Great Wall: Walk about 300 meters up the road from the hotel to the Xuefeng Mountain High Altitude Meteorological Station. The station was built in 1969 and was evacuated in 1990. Due to the need for daily observation, a closed corridor of bluestone steps was built on the ridge. Tourists walking through it have a unique experience. In 2008, Chongqing University established the national-level Xuefeng Mountain Energy Equipment Safety Field Scientific Observation and Research Station here. After the visit, return to the hotel.

D2: Hero Mountain - Beauty Valley - Zhimujie Anti-Japanese War Site

Hero Mountain: Get up at 5:20 a.m. and drive to Hero Mountain to watch the sunrise. Drive 2 kilometers to reach Tianchi Lake. Park the vehicle at Tianchi Lake and walk 1 kilometer along the right side of the lake along the walking path to the top of Maitaoling. Hat Ridge is about 1,500 meters above sea level. To commemorate the victory of the Xuefeng Mountain Campaign, a "Hero Mountain Stone Monument" was set up on the summit. It has now become a popular check-in spot for patriotic education. Here, you can enjoy the sunrise over the sea of clouds. Around a little past six o 'clock, a glimmer of light begins to appear on the horizon, and the fiery red sun slowly rises. After experiencing the beautiful scene of the sunrise over the sea of clouds, tourists can take a photo in front of the stone tablet on Hero Mountain. After the event, return to the hotel for breakfast.

Beauty Valley: After having breakfast at the hotel and taking a short rest, head to the Yaochi Scenic Spot. Descend the steps from the Yaochi Dam entrance and turn right to the Wanfu Stone scenic spot. From the viewing platform, you can enjoy a panoramic view of lush greenery and the surrounding mountains. Back at the Beauty Valley, following the stream downstream, it is about 2 kilometers long with a drop of approximately 200 meters. The stream flows gently, the forest is thick, and birds and insects chirp. This is an ideal place for getting close to the water, enjoying the forest, viewing the rocks, and conducting science popularization. Here, there are various precious and protected tree species such as the fragrant fruit tree, the spruce, and the Taxus chinensis var. mairei. Tourists can walk around and look at them at the same time, truly enjoying the mountains and waters while receiving science popularization education. Go down to the entrance of Meiren Valley and take a vehicle back to the hotel for lunch. Here, there are two options: one is to drive to the Jade Pool by yourself, then one person drives down to the entrance of the Beauty Valley to wait, and then all return to the hotel. Drivers can go up from the entrance, meet up halfway and then return to the car together. The other option is to walk 1 kilometer from the hotel to the Jade Pool. After getting down to the entrance of the Beauty Valley, contact the hotel by phone and they will send a vehicle to pick you up.

Zhimujie Anti-Japanese War Site: After having lunch, take a nap, then check out. Drive out of the park gate and drive 3 kilometers along National Road 320 to the Zhimujie Scenic Area to visit the Anti-Japanese War site. The terrain here is perilous. The road climbs in a zigzag pattern between two mountains, winding and changeable, earning it the reputation of "Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns". Liao Yaoxiang and Wang Yaowu once led the Chinese military and civilians to bravely resist the attack of the Japanese invaders here and won the victory of the Xuefeng Mountain Campaign (Xiangxi Campaign), which shocked the world. The Battle of Xuefeng Mountain dealt a heavy blow to the Japanese army's morale, writing a glorious page in the history of the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and modern Chinese history. It is regarded as a turning point in the Sino-Japanese War and laid the foundation for the "Surrender at Zhijiang". Climbing up the hiking trail to the summit, the remains of bunkers, trenches and machine gun shelters come into view. Standing on the top of the mountain, whenever the mountain wind blows, the forest rustles, as if the battlefield of the Anti-Japanese War and the killing of the enemy were reappearing. After the visit, we descended along the trenches, returned to the car and headed back, bringing to an end our delightful journey in Xuefeng Mountain Forest Park.
